GLUTTON'S DIARY 101

This dinner took place some time ago at the House of Sundanese Food in KLCC. Basically, serves Indonesian style food, I have always found this restaurant a favorite place of mine. Spicy is not the order of the day here so, for those who are afraid of having to eat al those hot and spicy stuff, will find this place suited to their taste bud.

fried fish - so crunchy even the bones!

That night, we had the infamous fried fish (it was crunchy all the way), grilled squid, tahu telor (towfoo egg) and pucuk paku (jungle ferns) cooked in coconut. I found the rest to my liking but the pucuk paku was a wee bit disappointing for me. Perhaps I was banding this with the way my mom cooks this dish, but usually, she will cook it in the kerabu way i.e. with spicy birds eye chillies mashed together with belacan, onions, dried shrimps, sugar, fish sauce and heaps of lime juice. Kerabu is usually in the form of a salad.

yellow rice

Overall, the food was good and the additional yellow rice (nasi minyak) gave it an added notch up its taste level. Oh, yes, their infamous "belinjao" (bitter crackers) dipped in sambal belacan was the starters! And, if you take their barley water, its free flowing!
