Ever been cruised before? If yes, can you remember exactly what happened? Like, when did it take place, where was it and, seriously, how old were you when you were approached?
I was thinking of this subject when I was passing through THE MALL the other day. All of us have in one way or the other have gone there for shopping or just probably to check out that place, no? Well, as for me, during my time, that place used to be a the place besides Sungei Wang. KLCC did not appear on our radars at that time, so THE MALL was THE place for many a people to hang out. Located in Jln Putra, it was situated opposite of the Pan Pacific Hotel and also the nearby, UMNO HQ.
During those times, PUTRA or KOMUTER did not appear at all, and the only way access from PJ to that place, was by bus. I remember mini bus were abound at those times, so, pretty much, if you can read this, I guess you must be thinking which part of the world am I living in, right? Actually, I gather that most of you would have never experienced a mini bus like me, so, in way, I think I feel pity for you...**smirk**
Anyway, I'm not going to delve on this but rather on what I had intended to talk about. I remember getting a part-time job after my SPM and I went to work in this music store (which was operated by a relative) to earn some extra pocket money and at the same time, to get my application approved before I did my A-levels.
The job was pretty easy, all I had to do was to help take care of the store, assist customers if they wanted to get some albums, test out the quality if they asked for and other stuff like stock taking etc etc. I had to work from morning (11 am right up to 8pm), so mostly I will be spending my time at the mall. My breaks will be for lunch and dinner and its usually half an hour or so.
I would usually have my break at the ground floor where the food court would be or I would just hang around the place but after a while, it gets pretty boring and all I want to do is just grab a bite and do a bit of reading. It was when I was having this break that one day, I was officially cruised by this guy in his late 20-s.
There used to be a fountain at the lower ground floor where the food court met with the supermarket and that was the usual place I will always hang out. I will just sit there, read something or at times, just stare blankly on the going-ons around me; until this guy appeared.
"Hi, excuse me, can I ask you a question?" the guy asked.
"Sure, what would you like to know?" I answered.
"Is there a disco in this building?" he added.
"A disco? Hmm...I'm not sure" I replied.
"Well that place is like a pub actually, so is there any such place in here?" he posed the question to me again.
This time, I was thinking my wits out if such a disco or pub actually existed. I was particularly clueless on his series of questions.
"Sorry, I'm not sure if there is such a place, perhaps you can ask Information" I told him.
He looked at me in a strange way, by which, he opened his mouth once again and said...
"You ever heard of this place called Blue Boy?"
"Huh? Blue Boy?" I asked innocently. ( I swear at that tender age of 17, I really did not know much about Blue Boy or what connections it was posed to me)
"Yes, you ever heard of it?" he asked again.
"No, I'm not sure if I have ever hear of this place" I replied, hoping he would go away.
This time, he did not let me go. He kept on asking me about whether I had a girl friend, which school I attended and asked me about my friends or what I was doing there. I'm not sure what made me answer all of his questions that day, as I know, I was never to speak to strangers in that manner and stupid me, I did not catch his drift when he asked me all those questions. Only, later when he asked the following:-
"I would like to give you a blow job!"
At that juncture, I stood frozen, my heart beat even faster and I felt my adrenalin pounding so hard, I thought I could have just exploded there and then. I did not want to do it, I was afraid, although I wanted to try it with this charming stranger (he looked not bad though) but yet, I know it was not me, I did not know him, he was a total stranger and immediately, I rejected his offer.
please go away...
He was persistent and I was not about to give in until I told him, I needed to go off now, back to work. However, before I could say adieu to him, he mentioned something like he wants to meet again, perhaps in the evening when I finish my work!! At that point, I just walked faster and each time, I turned around, just to make sure he was not tailing me.
That night, when I was about to go home, I felt so freaking scared that every step I made to the bus stop, was like endless. I was afraid that he might come back with a bunch of guys, probably, or maybe he would just harass me again? All this thoughts racing in me, fear and at the same time, enjoying it, but at the end of it, when I reached the bus-stop, I felt a bit of relief when I saw that I was not tailed. The mini bus did arrive on time, and I hopped into it as fast I can, and praying silently that the bus will send me home quickly (all the while, looking out from the window again, if he was there).
Apparently, the next day, I didn't report to work, gave a fucking excuse I was not feeling well, but in reality, I was too scared shit to go back again, just in case, if he was there! Looking back to this episode, I guess paranoia was the ruler of the day! It was both exhilarating and at the same time, something which I will remember for life, hence, why I'm sharing this with you.
looking back, it was funny yet scary...
If you have ever experienced something like what I had gone through, maybe share it with me. Don't know if I should be lucky to be cruised at that tender age.

your being cruised experience reminds me of mine. i had one in november 2005. i was at mid valley gents taking a leak when a guy stared at me and keep moving his head sidewards as if 'let's go'. He kept doing that and i started to freak out. i tehn walk out from the toilet and headed to the mall entrace. hoping that he will go away. just when i turned my head to check on him there he was, still following me and giving the 'let's go' gesture. i then waved my hand to say no and he walked away. it was a relief.
i had another when i am in a swimming pool in NZ but that one i accepted. it was another story but i wrote it in my blog.
if only i knew what cruising was back then.
